However, the South Beach diet is designed to work in three stages. The first stage works on stopping the cravings for foods that are high in sugar. The second and third phases are about maintaining healthy eating habits, and keeping the weight off. The South Beach diet is pretty easy to follow, but allows for absolutely no alcohol intake. The diet does allow for a large variety of foods eaten in small portions.
